How did I get here?
That’s not just the opening question of my book — it’s the reason the book exists.
I’ve known since I was sixteen years old that I was meant to be a chiropractor. Not because of a career test. Not because of a plan. But because of an experience that changed my life in a way I couldn’t ignore.
A Moment That Changed Everything
I didn’t grow up thinking I was unhealthy.
I thought I was normal.
But looking back, I was anything but.
Chronic bronchitis. Frequent illness. Constant pain. Missed school. A steady cycle of pills and temporary fixes. That was my baseline — and I didn’t even question it.
Then one afternoon, everything shifted.
A chiropractor took X-rays of my spine, explained what was happening in my body from a scientific, structural perspective, and delivered a few simple adjustments.
That was it.
No drugs.
No long treatment plan.
No masking symptoms.
Just removing interference.
And my body did the rest.
From that point forward, my health transformed so dramatically that I never looked back. No antibiotics. No prescriptions for illness. Just a growing understanding that the body, when properly aligned, has an innate ability to heal.
That realization didn’t just change my health.
It gave me my purpose.
Decades in Practice —
And One Lingering Question
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for thousands of patients.
I’ve also had something even more valuable — mentorship from chiropractors who practiced in a different era. “Old-timers” from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s. Chiropractors who faced legal battles, ridicule, and even jail time simply for helping people heal naturally.
One of them told me something I never forgot.
He said:
“We’re doing the same analysis. Delivering the same adjustment. But people aren’t healing like they used to.”
That stopped me.
Because I was seeing the same thing.
So I asked the question that ultimately led to this book:
What changed?
The Missing Piece: It Wasn’t the Adjustment
The adjustment didn’t change.
The nervous system didn’t change.
But the people did.
Over time, we came to a powerful realization:
People simply aren’t as healthy as they used to be.
Not structurally.Not metabolically.Not neurologically.
And that led me down a path I didn’t expect.
The Nutritional Awakening
In chiropractic school in the early 1990s, I had a professor who made a bold claim — he was going to reverse his Type II diabetes by eating eggs and bacon.
At the time, it sounded ridiculous.
But years later, I began to see the pattern.
Low-carb. Atkins. Keto. Each one helping people reclaim aspects of their health — but often falling short of long-term transformation.
Then came a moment that tied everything together.
A young patient with a severe seizure disorder.
Her family had tried everything. As part of their effort, they turned to a ketogenic diet — using nutrition to calm neurological dysfunction.
That case lit a fire in me.
I began studying ketones, metabolism, inflammation, and how the fuel we give the body directly impacts how the nervous system functions.
And suddenly, it all made sense.
The Experiment That Became a Lifestyle
I didn’t just study it.
I lived it.
I removed carbohydrates completely and began tracking my physiology — glucose, ketones, performance, recovery.
What started as curiosity became an eight-year evolution:
Low-carb → Keto → Carnivore
Today, I live on a nearly zero-carb diet built on real, whole animal foods.
And the results have been undeniable:

Resilience I didn’t think was possible
Even more surprising?
I realized that many of the foods I once believed were “healthy”… were slowly working against me.
